In my practice, my goal is to walk alongside you in times of discomfort and uncertainty so you don’t have to face them alone. My warm approach to the therapeutic process includes providing a space where you can discover, and sit with, your truest self in order to acknowledge and unpack some of the uncomfortable moments in your life. In this approach, we collaboratively explore and set goals for our time together, and work to create an environment where you can grow and flourish. I utilize a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and the Internal Family Systems Model to assist you in working towards the goals you have for yourself.
I have two Bachelor’s Degrees from the University of Waterloo in Social Development Studies and Social Work and am currently working toward my Master’s of Social Work degree at the University of Toronto. Over the past several years, I have had the privilege of supporting a diverse range of clients in various settings, assisting them in working through a multitude of challenges including varying mental health diagnoses, addiction, relational issues, and low self-esteem. I am honoured to be able to further my professional practice here at Beaches Therapy Group as a Social Work Intern. My services are offered at a reduced hourly rate and are supervised by a Registered Social Worker in the group practice.
Your decision to start therapy is a courageous one and I acknowledge the vulnerability it takes to open yourself up to be heard and seen by someone new. It is important that you feel connected to your clinician in order to do effective work. Let’s connect for your free initial consultation to get acquainted and talk more about what you’re looking to get out of psychotherapy, in order to ensure we would be a good therapeutic match. I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

Relationships are at the forefront of our lives–with family, friends, coworkers, society, and ourselves. My therapeutic approach centers on your relationship with others and yourself. Starting therapy can be daunting and scary since you are opening up to a new person; my goal is to meet you with empathy, compassion, humour, and support to help you pursue your treatment goals. My approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, anti-oppressive, and individualized to meet your needs holistically as a person living in a complex society.
When working with children, youth, families, adults, and couples, I utilize a variety of approaches, including techniques from Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Sensorimotor Therapy, and Somatic-Based Psychotherapy. I am training to become a Registered Dance Movement Therapist, so I often incorporate movement, the body, and other expressive techniques into my sessions.
Coming from the U.S., I earned a Master of Social Work Degree (MSW) from the University of Washington School of Social Work in Seattle, Washington. I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW).

With nearly a decade of experience working in mental health settings, I have a deep understanding of the connection between physical health and mental wellbeing. I believe that the quality of our lives is profoundly shaped by the strength of our relationships. My work is dedicated to helping you navigate emotional challenges and develop healthier behaviors and thought patterns, so you can feel more fulfilled in your life and relationships.
As a Somali-Canadian, Muslim woman, I recognize the complexity and nuance of living between multiple cultural and faith-based identities. As the daughter of refugees, I understand the challenges of trauma, identity, and community within our families and across cultures. Both my personal and professional journeys have been shaped by the process of reconciling these experiences while seeking belonging and identity.
I offer support for individuals navigating anxiety, depression, grief, addictions, and trauma—including intergenerational and cultural trauma. Whether you’re managing family or relationship conflict, workplace stress, or emotional regulation difficulties, we’ll work together to explore practical tools for healing and growth. My goal is to help you reconnect with your values, rediscover joy, and build a more balanced and meaningful life.
For couples, I provide guidance in rebuilding emotional connection and understanding. Together, we’ll focus on shifting unhealthy patterns, strengthening communication, and deepening intimacy—helping you move through conflict and nurture a stronger relationship.
My approach is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and cultural humility. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where you can express yourself freely and without judgment. I bring a culturally informed lens to all of my work, honoring the diverse backgrounds and life experiences that shape each person’s story.

Life is unfair and unexpected at some points. We all need a light to help us pass through life’s storms. Therapy can brighten our way and allow for a healthier mindset. As a therapist, I will be walking next to you in your journey, providing my support and empathy.
In my view, the soul deserves caring as much as the physical body. In my seventeen years of experience in the mental health field, I have supported many individuals with diverse backgrounds. In school, I helped teenagers; in communities, I helped adults; in shelters, I helped women who were being abused. I have seen how Individuals were constrained by their thoughts, families, and social cultures.
I seek to give my clients the tools to liberate themselves from their current limits and to find the version of themselves free from their pasts.
My strengths include healing trauma, depression, anxiety, anger management control, abusive relationship healing, helping build self-esteem and overall behavioral/emotional issues. My approaches are strength-based and mindfulness-based. The therapeutic modalities I often use include CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Emotional Freedom Technique.
In addition to psychotherapy, I provide spiritual care, which is multi-faith oriented and multi-culture empowered. In my spiritual Care, I help clients based on their faith values.
I have a Master of Arts in Psychotherapy and spiritual care and offer therapy in Arabic, Farsi, and English.

Fundamentally, I believe that therapy is about living intentionally. Much of our suffering comes from our unconscious habits — mental and behavioural patterns that we repeat over and over again, often with little awareness that we are doing them. My first goal as a therapist is to help my clients become aware of these patterns; the second step is working toward altering them in a collaborative, diligent, and systematic way. By doing this, we become more effective people, suffer less, and are better able to move toward the life that we envision for ourselves.
My expertise in therapy comes from three things: my academic learning, my experience as a clinician, and my experience in therapy myself. Before completing my MSW, I did a research master’s and worked in labs that studied mother-child attachment, the psychological effects of living with chronic disease, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Since my MSW, I have worked with individuals with criminal charges, men working on their fathering, adolescents suffering from depression, and I spent over five years working in an inpatient addictions and mental health treatment centre, encountering many forms of acute mental distress. I draw mostly from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), mindfulness meditation, and psychodynamic approaches.
I am also a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT). This is specialized training that prepared me to work with people with compulsive attachment patterns. This training and experience have given me a powerful attachment lens and insight into all kinds of insecure attachment styles, a major source of suffering for many people. A vital part of this work is also working with couples to rebuild trust and heal their bond.
I would gladly do a free phone consultation to get a better sense of what you’re going through and discuss how we could work on it together.

I am a dedicated and compassionate therapist with a passion for helping others that began over 10 years ago, running Afterglow Yoga Studio in the Beaches, Toronto. As a business owner and instructor I have thrived on making connections with others and finding joy in witnessing growth and possibility.
After what feels like a lifetime of raising three children, and running a business I chose to return to school to train and become proficient in treating the many complexities of life such as anxiety, depression, trauma, stressful life events, parenting and relationship issues. I have worked with women and girls to help increase self-awareness and empower their own inner voices. In addition to my Master’s in Counselling Psychology, I have training and achieved certifications in healing trauma and addiction through EMDR, EFT, mindfulness based self-compassion, and somatic healing. Through my training, yoga practice, mindfulness education, and lived experience, I have cultivated a diverse skill set using various therapeutic modalities, including Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), EMDR and Somatic practices such as yoga, meditation and breath work.
First and foremost I believe in creating a safe, empathetic and non-judgmental environment where clients feel free to explore their thoughts and emotions. I aim to work collaboratively with clients to foster meaningful connections, empower personal growth, self-esteem and balanced mental health. I embrace each persons unique and diverse circumstances creating individual plans for goal setting, healing and success.
